Painting with Acid Dyes - 2007/05/29 14:28 I had a day with a friend yesterday playing with some acid dyeing - we did silk hankies and roving.

I learnt a lot, enough to know that I definitely don't have space at home to get into production, but I can do little bits for myself.

I've ordered some Kemtex to play with already

Re:Painting with Acid Dyes - 2007/05/29 16:34 Hey, your picture gave me the best idea! I wonder if you could steam set dyes in the heat cycle of the dishwaher Of course you wouldn't want the wash or rinse part, but the heated dry cycle could be used, with the roving wrapped in plastic and laid in bowls. Instead of putting them on edge you could set them in, holding the roving. HA! it would be especially good for food color type dyes, as there would be no danger for consumption. I don't know if the acid dyes would be ok, but I bet they would if the roving was contained ina sealed dish, or a ziplock bag.
Thanks for the great photo that gave me the idea!
If you fall off, get back on and try again.
